Traffic rules and latest traffic violation fines effective April 2026.
Latest road safety penalties for helmet, license, insurance, drunk driving, and more.

Traffic rules are very important for road safety, and the fine chart effective from April 2026 shows stricter penalties for many common violations such as driving without a license, no helmet, drunk driving, and blocking emergency vehicles. These penalties are meant to reduce risky behavior and make roads safer for everyone.

Traffic rules help control road behavior and protect drivers, riders, passengers, and pedestrians. The latest fine chart shows that serious offenses like drunk driving and blocking emergency vehicles can lead to the highest penalties, up to ₹10,000.

Driving without a license can lead to a fine of ₹5,000. Not having a registration certificate, also called RC, can result in a fine between ₹3,000 and ₹5,000.

If a vehicle has no insurance, the fine is ₹2,000 for the first offense and ₹4,000 for the second offense. Riding without a helmet brings a ₹1,000 fine and can also lead to license suspension.

Not wearing a seat belt can result in a ₹1,000 fine. Triple riding also carries a ₹1,000 fine along with license suspension.

Drunk driving is one of the most serious traffic violations in the chart and carries a fine of ₹10,000, with possible jail time. Obstructing an emergency vehicle, such as an ambulance, can lead to a penalty of up to ₹10,000.

The fine chart makes it clear that missing documents like a license, RC, or insurance can become expensive very quickly. It also shows that safety-related violations like no helmet, triple riding, and drunk driving are treated seriously because they put lives at risk.

Every road user should carry valid documents, wear proper safety gear, and follow basic traffic rules while driving or riding. Simple habits like wearing a helmet, fastening a seat belt, and giving way to emergency vehicles can help avoid fines and improve road safety.

Traffic rules are not only about avoiding fines; they are about protecting human life on the road. When people follow traffic rules properly, roads become safer, smoother, and more responsible for everyone.
