The Odisha government has launched the highly anticipated Subhadra Yojana, a landmark initiative aimed at financially empowering married women across the state. What is Subhadra Yojana?

Subhadra Yojana is a welfare program introduced by the Odisha government to provide direct financial assistance to married women in the state. The scheme is named after Subhadra, the sister of Lord Jagannath, symbolizing the government’s commitment to protecting and uplifting women in Odisha.

  • Eligibility Criteria: Married women between the ages of 21 and 60 who are permanent residents of Odisha and meet certain income criteria are eligible to apply.

Objectives of Subhadra Yojana

The primary objectives of Subhadra Yojana are:

  • Financial empowerment: To provide direct financial assistance to married women, enabling them to contribute more significantly to their families and communities.
  • Economic independence: To reduce economic dependency among women and promote their self-relianc.
  • Recognizing women’s contributions: To acknowledge and reward women for their role in the family and society.

Application Process and Required Documents

According to Press Trust of India (PTI) Odisha launches web portal for ‘Subhadra Yojana. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida unveiled the portal ahead of the scheme’s official launch. The portal provides information about the flagship program for women.

To apply for Subhadra Yojana, women can follow these steps:
  • Visit the official portal subhadra.odisha.gov.in and click on the “Apply Now” option.
  • Fill out the online application form with the required information, such as name, Aadhaar number, age, address, and mobile number.
  • Upload the necessary documents, which may include Aadhaar card, PAN card, age certificate, income certificate, caste certificate, and bank account details.
  • Review the application and submit it online.

Alternatively, women can obtain pre-printed application forms from Anganwadi Centres, Block Offices, Urban Local Body Offices, or Mo Seva Kendras, fill them out, and submit them to the nearest center.
